Mercedes-Maybach has launched its first plug-in hybrid model, the S580e.
The S580e is closely related to the standard S-class plug-in hybrid, with a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 150-hp electric motor.
The total system output is 510 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, with 60% of that torque coming from the electric motor.
The S580e offers a serene and quiet ride, with a top speed of nearly 87 mph and a range of 62 miles on a full charge.
The car offers luxurious features, including a rear-seat refrigerator and branded champagne glasses.
The S580e is an environmentally-friendly choice for low-emissions urban areas.
The car will first be available in China, where over half of all Maybach production ends up, with a slow and steady rollout planned.
With record sales growth for the division, Mercedes-Maybach is approaching its electrification effort carefully.
