It’s only been a few months since Ford debuted their seventh-generation 2024 Mustang, but it looks like they’re already hard at work on what’s next for the pony car. Recently, MotorTrend obtained exclusive images that appear to show a next-generation Mustang Shelby model already out testing.
While the camouflaged car looks fairly straightforward and without any major aerodynamic bodywork or a massive rear wing, it does sport distinctive grille mesh and wheels that suggest it could be a Dark Horse or at least something based on it. The presence of Shelby Vice President of Production and Chief Test Driver Vince LaViolette in the racing suit only adds to the speculation.
However, it’s still not clear if this will be the next GT500 or perhaps a GT350. It could also be a new version of the Mustang Shelby GT or even the Shelby Super Snake. While shots of the camouflaged car’s hood raised show no indication of forced induction, the view is still hazy and inconclusive.
What we do know is that Shelby is one of the first to start developing a hotter version of the 2024 Mustang, and we can expect more news later this year. Whether this camouflaged car is the next GT500 or not, it’s something to be excited about.
