Ten years ago, Josh Harada made a decision that would change his life forever. At just 17 years old, he used his life savings to purchase a 2004 Lexus IS300, despite it being priced well above market value. It wasn’t the best deal, but he knew that this was his chance to own his very first car.

Before settling on the Lexus, Josh had considered purchasing a classic 240Z, but ultimately decided against it due to the high cost of restoring it to daily driving condition. He also had his sights set on an IS250 F Sport, but couldn’t afford it brand new. In the end, the IS300 made the most sense.

Josh’s love for JDM cars only grew stronger after stumbling upon a classic Z-car build featuring a 2JZ swap with individual throttle bodies built by Daddy Motor Works of Japan. He knew that he had to have a custom ITB setup for his IS300, and after saving up for a couple of years, he contacted Oto-san, owner of Daddy Motor Works. Oto-san agreed to build the ITB kit, but refused to ship it due to fear of damage during transit.

With the ITB kit complete, Josh began his search for OEM-optional Altezza parts, scouring Yahoo Japan’s auction pages for rare parts in new or near-new condition. He eventually found Qualitat Modelista headlights, an Altezza Legana (TRD NEO V1) front bumper with fog light deletes, a TRD Sports carbon-trimmed upper grill, Altezza Elegant side skirts, and a matching rear bumper with a lip. He also added a Modellista trunk spoiler, TRD Sports carbon trunk garnish, and custom-fitted East Bear mirrors to complete the exterior look.

But Josh didn’t stop there. His suspension is based around 326Power coilovers with adjustable top hats and custom Swift springs, complemented by a host of other upgrades such as front and rear lower control arms, adjustable upper control arms, adjustable tie rods and rear toe links, and polyurethane bushings. Even the subframe was removed, cleaned up, and refinished to give the Lexus a brand new underpinning.

Josh’s journey to create his JDM masterpiece was not an easy one, but it’s a testament to his determination and dedication to his passion for cars. His IS300 is a one-of-a-kind machine that represents the true spirit of the JDM culture, and it’s a testament to the endless possibilities that exist in the world of automotive customization.
